Crystal Guardians
A pair of the world's tallest geodes. Standing at a breathtaking 5.5 metres, the Crystal Guardians are an exquisite smoky quartz geode with delicate sprinklings of amethyst and calcite crystal flowers and stand as sentinels watching over the property.
The Dragon Egg
The extraordinary 120 million year old geode comes from Uruguay and is open for all visitors to sit inside and enjoy, free with your entry. This magnificent amethyst cave, that Crystal Castle have affectionately called the 'Dragon Egg', weighs 10 tonne and with its perfect deep purple colour is extremely rare. Surround yourself with the exquisite beauty and energy of this amazing crystal, and receive a crystal blessing as you sit inside this magical space.
Buddha Walk
The 'Buddha Walk' is a unique half kilometre walk offering spectacular views of Byron's hinterland. On the walk you will discover giant crystals, lush sub-tropical gardens, enormous statues, a bamboo walk, and beautiful spaces for contemplation and meditation. The amazing statues are hand carved from volcanic rock from Gunung Merapi (mountain of fire), the same stone used to carve the famous Buddhist monument Borobudur in Java, Indonesia.
Take the Shambhala Gardens Tour for a more indepth experience. Who you will meet along the way:
- Blessing Buddha – sitting on his lotus this amazing statue is almost 4 metres high and weighs 14 tonne.
- Buddha's Lotus Mosaic – by Turiya Bruce
- Amethyst Gateway
- Castle Sculpture and Dragon – by Steve the Sandman
- Lakshmi – Goddess of Abundance – 3.5 metres high
- Ganesh – God of new beginnings, over 2 metres high
- Garuda & Vishnu – Vishnu, the God of love and saviour of the world, rides upon Garuda, representative of honesty and the preserver of truth
- Nandi – The Lord of Joy and vehicle of Shiva
- Avalokiteshvara – The Buddha of Compassion
Enchanted Cave
The Enchanted cave is approximately 5.5 metres wide and weighs over 20,000 kilograms, that's 20 tonne!
Wings to Eternity Mural
The extraordinary Wings to Eternity Mural is their magical backdrop within the Shambhala Gardens. Become part of the flutter of butterflies or rest in the foliage with the fairies. These deep purple amethyst crystal wings will delight all ages. Take flight with the Wings to Eternity!
The Labyrinth
The Labyrinth is a walk of spiritual reflection and meditative enquiry, an entrance into sacred time and space to seek insight or inspiration. Walking the mysterious, twisting path towards the centre, allows you to quiet your mind, shedding thoughts and distractions and open to the insight of your heart. In the centre is a rose quartz flower of life design, a place of prayer and contemplation, where you can stop, wait and receive. Each journey into the Labyrinth is unique with guidance and insight appearing in many ways.
Created in 2000, the Crystal Castle's Labyrinth is based on the same design as the most famous Labyrinth still in existence today at Chartres Cathedral near Paris, which was built around 1200 AD.
Rainforest Walk
The one kilometre walk was planted with massive help from the wonderful community and is aimed at restoring the indigenous plants and wildlife of this area. Enjoy abundant bird life, water sculpted feature rocks and rare species of wildlife. 'And don't forget to look up, you may even see a koala!'
Kalachakra World Peace Stupa
The Stupa at the Crystal Castle is a Kalachakra Stupa, a rare sacred monument created to protect against negative energies. It is known as the World Peace Stupa, and its specific purpose is to restore balance to the earth in times of war, conflict and environmental destruction.
One of only seven in the world and the only stupa in the southern hemisphere, this amazing structure has been engineered to last 1,000 years. Tibetans believe that great benefit can be gained from walking clockwise around the Stupa. Indeed, the mere sight of a stupa is said to put you in touch with your own innate goodness, inspiring compassion, kindness and ultimately good karma.
Damanhur Spiral
The Damanhur Spiral is energetically connected to the stone spirals and labyrinths in the Sacred Woods Temple of Damanhur Federation of Communities in Northern Italy. These spirals are in turn connected to the awe-inspiring Temples of Humankind, dug under the mountain at Damanhur.
Their combined energy is said to act as an extensive store of knowledge and inspiration that can reawaken the divine essence present in each individual.
The spiral form invites you to journey deeper into yourself, and the walk inwards to the expansive Smoky Quartz throne, can be a deep healing journey and shift in energy.
Walking the Damanhur Spiral can be a deep transformative experience.
Forest of Friends & Family
Each year in November a ceremony is held at the Crystal Castle in conjunction with the Natural Death Care Centre, to celebrate the Day of the Dead, and together with the Natural Death Care Centre and community, Crystal Castle has created the "Forest of Friends and Family" as a permanent and sacred place visitors can go to honour and connect with the memory of those they have loved and lost.
This beautiful Quandong Grove provides an inherent sacredness and natural home for quiet contemplation, memories and the scattering of ashes.
The names of those loved ones are recorded in a Book of Remembrance and at the annual ceremony their names are read out.
