Snorkelling is a great way to explore the reef and see the marine life situated around the Great Adventures activity platform. The crew will help fit you with the gear, give tips to first time snorkelers and your safety officers (lifeguard) patrol the snorkel area to make sure everyone is staying safe.

Green Island
Green Island is a beautiful 6000 year old coral cay located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park - a premier world heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Grab your snorkel gear and head to the Lifeguard patrolled beach to explore the marine world off the beach, take a stroll thru the unique tropical rainforest, laze on the white coral sand beach or take part in some of the optional activities that Green Island has to offer.
Outer Barrier Reef
The stable reef activity platform is the perfect base for swimmers and non-swimmers to explore. Snorkel and/or dive, visit the underwater observatory, cruise in a semi-sub or just relax on the sundeck with a delicious buffet lunch. The vibrant marine life of the reef awaits you.
In addition to your included activities Great Adventures' activity platform also has a wide range of optional activities to choose from.

Guided Snorkel Tour
For those looking for a more immersive snorkel experience, a guided snorkel tour is a great way to maximise your visit to the Great Barrier Reef. Ideal for novice snorkellers and family groups, you will be able to swim with the fish and explore the wonders of the reef with one of the knowledgeable guides by your side.
Green Island Snorkelling
Grab your snorkel gear from the Dive Shop and get ready to explore the marine world surrounding Green Island – you might even bump into one of the friendly local turtles that call the Island's waters home.
Snorkelling at Green Island, with its lifeguard patrolled beach, is a safe and exciting way to introduce yourself to the Great Barrier Reef. Snorkel gear includes snorkel, mask and fins; prescriptions masks and flotation vests are available for hire from the dive shop. Lycra suits are also available for hire for adults and children entering the water, providing sun protection and reducing the possibility of stings and irritations from marine stingers that can frequent tropical waters seasonally. The lycra suits have long sleeves and legs with a hood and mittens. They're a great fun fashion statement and photo opportunity too!
Outer Reef Snorkelling
Snorkelling is a great way to explore the reef and see the marine life situated around the Great Adventures activity platform. Snorkel, mask, fins and flotation devices are included with your tour. The crew will help fit you with the gear, give tips to first time snorkelers and your safety officers (lifeguard) patrol the snorkel area to make sure everyone is staying safe.
Lycra suit hire for adults are children is available, these suits offer protection from the sun and reduce the possibility of stings and irritations from marine stingers that can frequent tropical waters seasonally. The lycra suits have long sleeves and legs with a hood and mittens.
Semi Submersible
Explore the vibrant reef from the comfort of the air-conditioned semi-submersible coral viewing tour with informative commentary. The friendly crew are ready to share their knowledge and passion for the Great Barrier Reef with you. As the spacious semi-sub with wide viewing windows meanders slowly through beautiful coral gardens, you'll experience the remarkable life below the surface.
The semi-sub tour takes approximately 25 minutes and departs every 30 minutes, or as announced, from the rear of the platform.
Underwater Observatory
From the underwater observatory you will be able to view corals, giant clams and be mesmerised by a myriad of colourful fish and marine life before your eyes. Here you can explore at your own pace or join the Eco Reef talk with the Marine Naturalist. Be sure to check out the extensive interpretive posters in the underwater observatory too. You’ll be identifying Nemos and parrotfish in no time!
From the viewing area, you can also watch divers as they descend into the water for an underwater adventure from the specially designed dive platform.
Eco Walk
Green Island is one of 300 coral cays on the Great Barrier Reef; it is the only coral cay to have a dense, shady vine-thicket rainforest. Green Island is home to over 120 species of plants, over 55 species of birds and a unique mixture of coastal and rainforest plants all within its 1.6km circumference.

Green Island: You can see the reef from a glass bottom boat and take a self guided island walk. See our Green Island Included Activities page. Seawalker helmet diving on Green Island is an option for non-swimmers who would like to see the reef underwater.
Outer Reef Platform: The semi-submersible coral viewing tour and underwater observatory and eco reef talk are inclusions for non-swimmers. See our Outer Reef Included Activities page. At the Outer Reef, the Scuba-Doo underwater scooter is an option for non-swimmers who would like to see the reef underwater.
At the Outer Reef, there are small lockers on board the vessels and are a single-use locker. These lockers are only small but big enough for most valuables and are quite suitable to use while you are in the water.
