2 Overview
Jewel Cave Single Cave Entry
Jewel Cave is an extremely well decorated cave, containing many beautiful examples of delicate helectites, cave coral, pendulites, a very large stalagmite called 'The Karri Forest', and beautiful examples of flowstone such as 'The Frozen Waterfall' and 'the Organ-pipes'.
Fossilised remains of several Tasmanian Tigers or 'Thylacines' have been discovered within Jewel Cave's chambers, safely preserved more than 3000 years after the unusual marsupial became extinct on mainland Australia. There is a skeleton of a thylacine on display in the Jewel Cave centre.
Fully guided one-hour tours showcase the breathtaking magnitude of Jewel Cave. Visitors will see towering crystal creations that have taken thousands of years to form, and intricate decorations stretching and suspended across the ceiling, like vines and dancing cobwebs. They'll also hear stories of the now-extinct Tasmanian Tigers that fell into the cave and perished.
The awe-inspiring crystal journey is perfectly complemented with the option of a self-guided Karri Walk through towering forest giants, at the end of the visit.
Entering Jewel Cave is a magical experience; a dazzling visual display of some of nature's finest and most meticulous work.
